Winter Wonderland

Second blizzard to hit Boston this winter. Second Snow day in my whole life, a day where all employees are cautioned against commuting to work, therefore, a free holiday.

I was so excited to go out shopping until I saw a lady got hit by a tree branch in the news. And a lady 10 steps away from a falling tree branch when it fell, right outside my apartment window...

So, as a prudent, obedient girl, I stayed home. What do we do at home if we don't have a TV to watch? We surf the internet. 40 minutes later, the internet went down. A ha! The power just went out for the entire neighborhood.

My mind went blank. What can I do, without internet, without power, without going outside?
I read a magazine, did some aerobics, ate lunch, and improvising ways to make sure my ice cream doesn't go bad when the fridge is out of power.

My yet-to-be-patented idea: Scoop up some snow in a plastic bag and smother my ice cream with that bag. Then, shut the fridge door, praying the power comes back in a few hours.

Alas, it came back around 4pm, and the great insulation around the fridge ensured that not even a bit of snow melted. So, my ice cream survived the black out. And I did too...

Will be out of my phone plan starting tomorrow. Another no-technology-challenge day to come!

I am thankful for all the technology around me, I really am.

Climate change is real...stop global warming!
