What for?

An intellectual conversation about energy conservation and global warming recently reminded me of a random conversation I had with a random stranger at the Indiana airport.

"Turn off the lights when you leave the room, dear. Every time you leave a light on, a polar bear would drown. "

That's what the kind father would remind the daughter to do, constantly educating her about global warming and energy conservation. Isn't that beautiful? Using an analogy a baby girl can relate to, to show her how her actions can affect another living being on the other side of the world.

Yes, there are rumors that global warming is a scam to boost the environment conservation industry. Yeah, petroleum running out could be a conspiracy theory to boost gas prices. Sure, future technology may be able to reverse all these climate anomaly and damages done to Mother Earth in the blink of an eye.

But do these even matter? Even if all these resources will never run out, does the availability of a resource justify its thoughtless consumption?

What God took thousands of years to build, we are exponentially consuming in centuries.
What took thousands of years to grow, is being felled in days.
What took millions of years to form, is being rigged in weeks.

What more proof of global warming would obligate you to care? Nothing.

Care is not an obligation. It is a heartfelt love for something, someone.

A conscious earthling would care for Mother Earth, like a baby caring for her mother. It is in his/her instinct. A baby shouldn't have to be taught to love. It is the first skill God has imparted to us, through example.

Scientists observe and hypothesize. None of them guarantee truth. Truth is whatever sh*t you choose to believe in. Belief is by choice, not by force.

Human's "development" has left so many irreversible marks on Earth - extinct populations, erratic climate, pollution, plastic ring in the Pacific, and so many more.

The "only" good thing about development is - education. We now have more access to knowledge than our ancestors did. But what are we doing with our knowledge? Are we really giving back to the community, the world? Or are we blindly pursuing our selfish needs and wants?

What for recycle? What for turn off the lights, when I am not paying for electricity? What for turn off the tap when water is free? What for use my own utensils when disposable stuffs are free?

What for? You should know better than I do. I am just an uneducated, ignorant, young lady, who likes to write cr*p on her blog.
